Finding the Perfect Mouse for You

Many people overlook what I consider the most important aspect of a mouse: size. Most mice on the market are designed for “average-sized” hands, which may not be ideal for everyone — especially those with smaller or larger hands.

size reference
  • Small/mini: Finalmouse small, Lamzu mini, Viper mini, Pulsar Xlite mini
  • Medium: Logitech G Pro X Superlight, Viper V3 Pro, Pulsar Xlite, and a lot more
  • Large: DAv3 Pro, MX Master 3

Although I’m fairly tall, surprisingly, the best mouse size for me is small — not medium or large. I only figured this out after experimenting with different mice for years. Medium-sized mice turned out to be too big for my grip style, reducing my gaming performance and causing sweaty hands over long sessions.

Next up are shape and coating. Shape should align with grip style and hand structure, while a good coating helps maintain consistent grip and keeps hands dry. Then weight, and features and specs (sensors, switches, 8k polling rate) come last!

My Favorite is Finalmouse Small. Why?

For Gaming: Perfect. Its small size fits my hand best, the shape naturally aligns with my grip style, and it’s incredibly light too at ~32g. It helped me reach Radiant in Valorant and Eternity in Marvel Rivals :)

For Programming/Daily Use: Although gaming mice have fewer buttons, I’d take grip comfort over a bunch of unused buttons.

Using a work mouse for gaming is pure craziness, but a gaming mouse works well for both work and game. Also, work mice usually look ugly aesthetically speaking 🙂

In summary, to find the perfect mouse:

  • Prioritize: Size → Shape → Coating → Weight → Features
  • Visit a gaming store and try multiple mice in person — don’t rely solely on online reviews
  • Aesthetics: pick nice colors and elegant design ✨
